85 signees for repeal of ISA motion
A TOTAL of 85 MPs – 81 from the Opposition, a backbencher and three independents – signed in support of a motion to discuss the repeal of the Internal Security Act (ISA).
Abolish ISA parliamentary caucus chairman Lim Kit Siang said the first batch of signatures would be submited to the Prime Minister soon.
“In a First World parliament, it is the MPs who set the agenda and not the Executive,” he said at Parliament Lobby yesterday.
Teresa Kok (DAP – Seputeh) had filed a motion to debate the use of the ISA against herself, Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng and blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin.
Ministry: Pakatan reps welcome
THE International Trade and Industry Ministry does not discriminate against the five Pakatan Rakyat-ruled states in organising overseas trade missions.
Deputy Minister Datuk Liew Vui Keong said prior to the March general election, the ministry had invited the PAS government in Kelantan for foreign trade trips.
“The ministry is willing to invite officials from Pakatan state governments such as the mentris besar or exco members to visit other countries to attract foreign investments to Malaysia and they can inform us if they want to,” he told Loke Siew Fook (DAP – Rasah).
